This journal is a mix of mostly public with some friends only entries. Feel free to subscribe. If you'd like me to add you back, leave a comment. This journal contains a lot of chat about videogames, and what I'm reading/watching. Also some occasional real life whining.

In January, I played Pyre and finished up Horizon Zero Dawn.

Pyre, Pyre oh my god Pyre. I wasn't expecting to love this game so much, even though I've really enjoyed everything else by Supergaint Games. Pyre is by far and away my favourite of their games, and probably one of the best games I've played in a long time. It's an experience. I just... got lost in it's world and I got so attached to the characters. The dialogue is so great. I don't even want to say too much about this game because anything would be a spoiler and it's really just something that needs to be experienced.

And the music is incredible! I've been listening to the soundtrack a lot since I finished the game. How Pyre Sings Your Story is a great video discussing the music in the game – well worth a watch if you've played it.

So yeah, just play Pyre.

I've started Divinity Original Sin 2. I am having SO much fun with it but I'm also really bad at it. Dying a lot. All the time. I keep trying to talk my way out of situations but everyone just keeps trying to kill me. I feel like I'm going to be playing this game for months (in a good way).

This month I'd like to finally finish both Transistor and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

It's still January, I'm not late with this. Part 1 and part 2.

Just watched my team lose in a match in which they got two yellow cards and a red? It was like the team collectively woke up on the wrong side of the bed and didn't want to go to work so they were all trying to get sent off.

Me oh my I have not enjoyed that yes boy.

Anyway, videogames:

There's going to be a part three to this )

In other news, I wrote a Dragon Age one shot a little while ago that's sad but was quite cathartic to write. Let's make everyone be sad.

Earlier this year, I started using howlongtobeat.com in an attempt to work through and organise my game backlog. It was bothering me I had this stupid pile of games I had paid money for and owned for literal years and never touched, and that I just kept buying more and more and never playing them. Turns out putting everything in a list was helpful. It’s been beneficial both in deciding what to play next and in making me think twice about buying new games. I’m still not great about not buying new games, but I’m definitely getting better. (Look, I haven’t bought Pokemon Let’s Go yet, that’s a miracle.)

So, here are my video games of 2018, part ONE, because I played a lot. I should have been taking notes on these games as I completed them; it’s hard to remember details months later when you have a terrible memory.
